Stillness, Silence, Spaciousness

Need a break from overthinking? I gotchu.

But you need at least 20 minutes of quiet time to yourself. So if you’re like me and can’t necessarily do that right now, I suggest going into your calendar and scheduling some “me time” and come back when you’re ready.

Trust me, it’ll be worth it.

I’ve had this gem of a meditation from Tenzin Rinpoche in my toolbelt for years. It has been the most powerful guided meditation I’ve experienced. Not exaggerating. For that reason, the few times I’ve been asked to lead a meditation, it has been inspired by this one. I’ve wanted to share it far and wide and finally got around to editing it down (it was part of an hour long interview) so that I can share it with you.

Here are some ideas your mind can chew on before diving in:

Eckhart Tolle describes the pain body as “an addiction to unhappiness.” It is the part of your ego that is looking to find ways to feel bad in order to strengthen itself. The remedy is being present but many times we interpret that intellectually and miss the experience of it. Tolle says “the Now is deeper than what happens in it. It is the space in which it happens.” That space he is referring to can be accessed through stillness, silence and spaciousness.

When doing this meditation, it won’t necessarily matter if stillness, silence or spaciousness are obviously present. What the meditation does is help you realize that presence (aka the Now, aka Silence, aka Stillness, aka Spaciousness) is there underneath everything waiting to be accessed by your witnessing of it.

You will inevitably move (notice the Stillness in which that movement happens); You will inevitably hear noises (notice the Silence in which those noises arise). Once you have tapped into both Stillness and Silence, try to become aware of both at the same time. This is where Spaciousness can expand that awareness and heal your pain body.

I am so excited for you to experience this and would love to hear what came up for you.

#MUSICMANTRA:

“Oohhh sweet mother
How I long, how I long to know you
Ohhh sweet lover
How I long, how I long to hold you
Ohhhh sweet mother
Ohh how long, how I long to know you
Ohhhh sweet mother
Ohh I’m crying out I’m crying out for you.”
