Co-creating the New
With this new moon and you as my witness, I want to share my renewed commitments:
I recommit to bringing ease instead of urgency into my business.
I recommit to honoring cycles of inspiration instead of forcing things.
I recommit to expecting and celebrating imperfection.
I recommit to cultivating a deeper relationship to the land.
I recommit to a business that causes the least harm and exploitation as possible.
I recommit to following my intuitive dream instead of the “American dream.”
I recommit to normalizing enoughness and no longer playing the “not enough ______” game.
I recommit to continuing to share my evolving vision for the New Earth.
I recommit to co-creating what I wish to see by living it out in my life and body.
I recommit to the belief that when we all do good, WE ALL DO BETTER.
There are a million doubts and questions I have with these commitments but the uncertainty is worth it for me. Can I support my family with an unconventional dream? Can I inspire others to join me in doing the same? Can I become part of a community that mutually supports each other in their dreams as we all get free? Can I recognize when I have enough? Can I give from the overflow only? Is all this a possibility? I don’t necessarily know the answer to those questions but I do know this:
We can only create the new by showing up differently. Why don’t we do it together? Share below what you are recommitting to this New Moon.
Last week my first interview dropped on the We Are All the Shades podcast. With the encouragement of Geri (the host of We Are All the Shades), I showed up with the intention of simply sharing my spiritual journey and creative process, without the pressure of showing up as an expert. I hope you get a chance to listen to it!
In the interview we talked about how we met through Dra. Rocio Rosales Meza, a medicine woman and decolonial spiritual guide. The same week the podcast interview dropped, I participated in a webinar with Dra. Rocio that held up a mirror that simultaneously confronted, affirmed, and expanded my understanding of the spiritual journey.
A week later I’m still integrating, but one of the most impactful reminders was that: In order to create the new, we have to show up differently.
There are many reasons why I haven’t shared too much about the decolonial journey. Partly because I’m battling the programming that says we have to show up as an expert in order to be worth listening to. But that’s not the truth. I realized from the interview that authenticity and vulnerability are powerful companions that allow others to see themselves through your experiences.
So what I’m proposing is, if you want to start your own understanding and journey of decolonizing, I recommend learning directly from Dra. Rocio. Her words and compassionate guidance are medicine as you go through the process of unlearning (decolonial) and remembering (spiritual). Even though it’s a journey that I’ve been on, its always deepening, so I realized that it might be helpful to create a space where we can share the ways in which we are unlearning and remembering in our own unique, creative and intuitive ways (large or small).
I will create a space in my newsletter where we can show up, not as a teacher or expert, but more as a mirrors and windows into other ways of doing and relating to life (and the trial and errors that come with that).
Each Unlearning & Remembering Newsletter will be an opportunity to glimpse into what I am unlearning and remembering on both a spiritual and practical level, and I’ll offer you (if you feel called) the opportunity to share your own reflections that I will curate for the community.
This is how we can unlearn with each other, remember with each other, and co-create the New Earth co-creatively. I am allowing this idea to evolve the way it needs to, but these are just some initial ideas. Please share yours below!
